Vøringsfossen is a major waterfall on Norwegian National Road 7, which connects Oslo with Bergen on the road down from the Hardangervidda plateau to Hardangerfjord. It is perhaps the most famous waterfall in the country and a major tourist attraction.

We loved the driving experience – remarkable engineering along the way. I’d also very happily hike the old road (which was clearly a popular activity people were doing).

We stopped at the historic Fossli Hotel, which looks a little tired, but the viewpoint in front (Voringfossen) is excellent.
