The drive to Odda is stunning – all fruit trees against the Fjord. We don’t love the town itself. It’s kind of grim, overlooks a smelting plant, and has terrible restaurant options. The highlight was hanging out with the local gas & oil workers at the local bar (which was very entertaining).

AirBNB booked for two nights: Kremarvegen 4, Odda, Hordaland 5750, Norway. This was exactly as billed – clean, central, small. Because of the town we decided one night was enough.

We punted on the long hike – Trolltunga (vista point) – the reason most people visit.

However, our hike (2.5 hours) was incredible! One of my favorite hikes ever – Buarbreen. About 2.5 hours, reasonably hard work, get right up to a glacier.

Sites of interest north:

  • Tyssedal Hotel: We didn’t stay here, but it looks very promising from the outside.
  • Leaving Odda we ate at ***Kompaen, which was on a lovely spot on the Fjord and has quite good lunch food.
