Füssen is home of the ***Neuschwanstein Castle. It’s worth doing, and it’s great, but it’s quite a scene and requires a lot of patience. If you can, reserve tickets in advance. Plan on a full 40 minutes to get from parking to the entrance gate. It’s a new, hollywood-esque castle and not actually historic, but impressive still. I would like this better if they showed the servant areas.

**Luitpoldpark Hotel was fine – good location, easy parking under the hotel. It’s old and weird, but the rooms are huge. There are hotels closer to the castle, but don’t stay in them. The old town is pleasant, has lots of food options, and is much less of a scene.

***Il Pescatore (in the old town): Italian, surprisingly great, really rich, creative Italian food, nice setting, huge portions.
