An ancient town with an interesting history. After a grim approach (not a very attractive modern city), you’ll find a lively interior core with historic buildings, a castle, a Roman amphitheater. We were here on a Friday night and loved eating on the main square and watching the locals promenade. Not a place to go out of your way to see, and not particularly tourist friendly, but it works as an overnight stop.

  • Hotel: **Residenza Di Federico II, Piazza del Popolo, 28, 71036 Lucera FG. Very loud, and fancy in a run down sort of way. It ended up being fine, no major complaints.
