• *Bran Castle: Shockingly, this is a skip! Billed as Dracula’s castle, this is mobbed with people, a fairly unremarkable castle without much in the way of interesting history, and surrounded by a really horrible mass of tourist shops and restaurants.
  • [didn’t stop] Rasnov Citadel: The citadel is believed to date back to the 1220s, during the rule of Teutonic Knights in Burzenland, and was conquered only once in its long history. Like the Bran Fortress, the Râșnov Citadel was constructed to defend the gorge beneath it as well as offer shelter to villagers in the case of enemy invasion. (Pretty from a distance)
